Makar Sankranti is a festival that surpasses regions and cultures, uniting people with its joyous celebrations. Marking the Sun’s journey into Capricorn, it symbolizes the end of winter and the arrival of longer, brighter days. With kites soaring high in the sky and bonfires lighting up the night, Makar Sankranti brings warmth not only to the atmosphere but also to the hearts of those who partake in its festivities. This vibrant festival celebrates nature’s abundance, the spirit of renewal, and the joy of community, fostering a sense of unity, gratitude, and hope for the year ahead.
Celebrating the vibrant spirit of Makar Sankranti, the students of Career Point Gurukul gathered at the football ground at 4 o’clock, welcomed by strong winds—the perfect conditions for a kite festival. The school provided kites and strings for all, ensuring everyone could take part in the festivities. For those looking for something unique, the Departmental Store (DS) offered a selection of kites available for purchase. As the minutes passed, more students filled the space, their excitement growing. The ground quickly came alive with an explosion of colours as kites soared high, each one competing to reach the skies. Some students expertly maneuvered their kites, while others took a more playful approach, laughing as they learned the art of flying. The air was filled with joyful chatter, cheers, and the occasional cry of victory as kites battled in mid-air. The energy was contagious, with students forming groups, offering tips, and sharing their enthusiasm.
As the day came to a close, the excitement from the kite festival continued into the evening. At dinner, along with the usual spread of delicious meals, a special treat awaited everyone—til gud ladoos. These traditional sweets, made from sesame seeds and jaggery, were served with warmth and care. The ladoos, rich in flavour and symbolism, were a perfect way to honor the festival’s spirit of joy, prosperity, and togetherness.
To sum up, the Makar Sankranti festivities at Career Point Gurukul were a beautiful blend of tradition and togetherness. This celebration truly captured the spirit of the season, leaving everyone with a sense of joy and gratitude.
