Dussehra, also known as ‘ Vijaya Dashami’ holds a special place in the heart of Indians, as one of the most significant festivals. It signifies the conclusion of the nine-day extravaganza of Navratri and the four or five days celebration of Durga Puja.
This auspicious day is steeped into mythological significance, as it is believed to mark the triumphant moment when the Lord Rama vanquished the King Ravan and his army after a protracted battle between the forces of righteousness and evil. The monumental victory has led to the day being christened as ‘Vijaya Dashami’, the day of Victory.
On the occasion of Dusshera, our school Career Point Gurukul organised a short function in the football ground. The function started at 6 pm with a devotional speech by Raj Sir, talking about the glory of Ram and Raja Dasharath, then I Niharika Singh of class 12th was called to recite a poem on Ram ”Yadi Ram Sa Sangharsh Ho”. Four students were dressed as the characters of Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman. Principal Mam did their aarti and then Ram burnt down the Ravan with all the negativities that we held in our life.
In conclusion, the function ended by 7 pm, students were sent back to their hostels to enjoy their special dinner.
The festival celebrated with great fervour across India, carries with it the profound message of the conquest of Good Over Evil.
