CP GURUKUL HONOURED MAHATMA GANDHI AND LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI ON THEIR BIRTH ANNIVERSARY.

The day 2^nd October comes up with the birth anniversary of the two greatest people in history. They are none other than ‘The Father of our Nation’ and our ‘2^nd Prime minister’. ‘Mohandas Karam Chandra Gandhi’ and ‘Lal Bahadur Shastri’ played a prominent role to save our future so that we could become independent. 

Gandhi’s life gave us the values of peace, non-violence (ahimsa), truth (satyagraha), compassion, self-discipline, and the sacrifice of Lal Bahadur Shastri,who emphasized the significance of national unity, integrity and simplicity. 

In our school there was a special assembly by the students of class 9^th. A speech was given by Master Krishna (Class 9^th A) to spread the feeling of nationalism in everyone’s  heart. Even a skit was conducted on Quit India Movement (Bharat Chodo Andolan) to tell the struggle of every person who was a part of our country’s independence.

To encourage the co-curricular activities, different competitions were held from classes 6^th to 8^th. In class 6^th there was a ‘Speech Competition’ where young minds gave their view on Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti. In class 7^th there was a ‘Paragraph Writing Competition’ where the students showed their creative skills. They even pasted pictures to enhance their work. In class 8^th there was a ‘Slogan Writing Competition’ where the students wrote the great words quoted by Gandhi ji and Shastri ji. 

Results of the competition held on the occasion were: 

Speech Competition (Class 6^th)

Second Position- Aradhya Yadav and Archika Gupta 

Third Position- Deepika Kumari 

 Paragraph Writing Competition (Class 7^th)   

First Position- Skarma Dorjey Wangtak

Second Position- Lakshya Gautam

Third Position- Aatif Rasool and Kumar Keshav Shankar 

Slogan Writing Competition (Class 8^th)      

First Position- Pragun 

Second Position- Nayan Yadav 

Third Position- Dev Prabhu and Sagnik Saha 

It was well said by Gandhi ji, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’. Shastri ji also said, ‘The country must stand on its own feet’. These words tell how Gandhi ji and Shastri ji wanted the nation to look like. We all must abide by their teachings and make this country a better place.
